Welcome to the Ars Electronica Garden Aotearoa 2022
Ars Electronica: AOTEAROA is New Zealand’s contribution to the International Ars Electronica Festival in 2022.
Ars Electronica is the world’s largest media festival, which is held annually in Linz, Austria. Placed at the intersection of art, technology and society, the five-day event attracts over 100,000 international visitors. Founded in 1979 the Ars Electronica Festival was designed to take the emergence of the Digital Revolution as an occasion to explore technologies and interrogate potential futures. The festival consists of symposia, exhibitions, performances, concerts and interventions spanning a broad arc from speculative futuristic scenarios to analytical considerations, from provocative actionism to philosophical debates.
Aotearoa has been offered a unique opportunity to partner with the main festival. For the third time, the arc/sec Lab at the University of Auckland (UoA) and the Digital Architecture Research Alliance (DARA) at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington are proud to contribute the Ars Electronica: AOTEAROA. This exhibition and concert night showcases projects from New Zealand’s artists, musicians, scientists and researchers in the form of prototypical installations, performances and talks.
